Bruchid Beetle Trap - Includes Attractant Lure

What Are Bruchid Beetles?

The Bruchid Beetle, also known as the Broad-Bean Weevil (Bruchus rufimanus), is a common pest found within bean crops.

How Does This Trap Help Combat Bruchid Beetles?

The Bruchid Beetle Trap works via use of an effective species-specific attractant lure. This attractant entices male and female Bruchid Beetles into the trap. Once the pests are within the trap they cannot escape.

The traps are effective for monitoring purposes as well as effective pest control, as the beetles are easy to detect, count and identify once caught within the trap.

Where Should I Place The Trap?

If applying to fields, place one trap on the north edge of the field, and one trap to the south edge.

If applying to smaller crop, place the trap wherever infestations have been identified and wherever there is crop to protect.

How Do I Set Up The Trap?

1. First, place the funnel onto the green bucket.

2. Secondly, place the opened attractant lure in the transparent top of the trap.

3. Next, fix the transparent top to the funnel with a twist action lining up the slots.

4. The trap can be placed on the ground or preferably on a raised 1 metre stick.

When Should I Use The Trap?

Use the Bruchid Trap when flight of adult beetles is expected from the end of March during vegetative growth.

How Many Traps Do I Need?

We advise that you use at least two traps per field. One trap will be sufficient for smaller areas.

When Will I Need To Replace The Trap?

The trap can be used for years and replacement lures can be purchased for additional coverage. The lures are designed to last an entire Bruchid Beetle flying season (roughly 6 weeks).
