Spider Mite

What Are Spider Mites?

Spider Mites, or Two Spotted Mites (Tetranychus urtica), are a common pest found in greenhouses or hydroponic set ups.

Spider Mite Damage & Symptoms

Spider Mites cause leaf damage by sucking out the contents of plant cells. Evidence of their activity will be clear from the damage they cause, where plants are left discoloured with white splotchy patches across the leaves.

How To Control Spider Mites

Dragonfli Preventative System

This control system is designed to introduce our predators on your plants before Spider Mites are present, in order to protect your plants from future infestations. Apply our Amblyseius californicus foil sachets every 3 to 4 weeks for this continuous protection.

Dragonfli Curative System

This control system is designed to tackle severe infestations when Spider Mite is already present on your plants. Apply our Spidex Vital Plus sachets to the release the ultimate, fast-acting predators to control large Spider Mite infestations. Spidex Vital Plus can be used in combination with the slower releasing Amblyseius californicus sachets to extend control over Spider Mites for several weeks.

We also supply Phytoseiulus persimilis predators that have been nutritionally bolstered and bred in a new way, providing them with more energy when released. The Phytoseiulus mites will be faster in laying eggs, locating Spider Mite hotspots and in establishing control over the pests. One amazing feature of these new predators is that they will change colour after having fed on the Spider Mites, turning from white to red. The Phytoseiulus can be applied every 7-10 days until the infestation is controlled.  Switch to the Dragonfli Preventative System once control is achieved.
