Fungus Gnats-Catching the little Blighters

We have never had a problem with Fungus Gnats until this year. Swarms of them! Mistakenly I ordered these big sheets, however, it meant I was able to cut them up. Nearly all of my 30 or so Houseplants have one Sticky piece on a Cane or stick above the leaf line of the plant, or hanging from a branch and I stood 2 or 3 pieces on the soil, leaning in to create cover. I even had one sheet hanging in the kitchen. I was going to solve this problem if it killed me!!. After one week, I replaced every single piece, as some were covered in Gnats-adults and the juveniles. I had one piece that must have had 200 or so on just the one!! With the newer pieces in place, it means I can monitor their demise, and I cannot tell you how sadistically exciting it is to see them caught, and their number going down. This is now week three and whilst I am still catching them they are decreasing. I will keep this system in place to break their life cycle. At the moment the house is full of bright yellow cards, so it looks a bit daft, but it is a means to the end. These are incredibly sticky and cutting them up and changing them is a messy and very sticky practice, but I can see their numbers going down. I have certainly caught more as they emerge as youngsters with the cards that are sitting on the soil. So, I would recommend these in a flash!
